Where to Find Your Range Model Number
Range and oven model numbers are located in one of these places:
- Behind the storage drawer — pull out the bottom drawer and look on the frame (most common for freestanding ranges)
- On the door frame — open the oven door and check the left or right side of the frame
- On the back panel — near the top of the back of the unit (may require pulling out)
The model number is usually on a metal or paper sticker alongside the serial number. Look for a label that says "Model" or "Mod."
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the model number on a range?
Most commonly behind the storage drawer (pull it out and look on the frame). Also check the oven door frame or the back panel near the top.
Are gas and electric range model numbers different?
Yes. Most manufacturers use different model number prefixes for gas vs. electric ranges. ApplianceAPI identifies the fuel type automatically from the model number.
Can I get range dimensions from a model number?
ApplianceAPI is designed to return height, width, depth, oven capacity, and burner specifications for range models via REST API. Launching Spring 2026.
